Renowned for their infectious grooves and electrifying brass arrangements, Glasgow's funk and soul powerhouse Tom McGuire & The Brassholes strikes a powerful balance between rhythmic intensity and raw emotion, drawing from a profoundly personal moment in frontman Tom McGuire’s life.

"Take My Money" was written on the night Tom McGuire’s first child was born—during a terrifying 24 hours when her breathing failed, and she required urgent intensive care. While his wife and newborn daughter stayed in the hospital, Tom found himself alone across town, struggling to process the terrifying uncertainty of the situation.
In an attempt to distract himself, he began writing. What started as abstract, stream-of-consciousness lyrics soon transformed into something raw and deeply personal: a heartfelt plea for his daughter to breathe. The desperation and vulnerability of that night shaped every lyric, with the refrain “Please baby will you breathe”becoming the emotional centerpiece of the song.
With pounding rhythms, soaring horns, and McGuire’s impassioned vocals, "Take My Money" blends unfiltered emotion with the band’s hard-hitting funk energy, making it one of their most evocative and powerful tracks to date.
Raising Funds for NHS Charities Together
Through the sales of art prints inspired by their previous single, a reworking of Tom’s infant daughter’s crayon scribbles, the band has raised hundreds of pounds for NHS Charities Together. This effort is a heartfelt attempt to give back to the incredible people who cared for Tom’s daughter in the neo-natal intensive care unit.
