With an ear for funk, jazz, blues, and soul, Mick’s on a mission to uncover fresh, original music and share it with the world. Whether through live concerts, our website or playlists with over 100k followers, The New Funky is all about surprising people with sounds they didn’t know they needed.

Meet Roderik, a true aficionado of the funk, soul, and jazz realms. His passion for discovering new and groovy tunes knows no bounds, making him one of our main listeners and an integral part of The New Funky community.

​Roderik isn’t one for social media or the typical music hype. He’s not interested in how many times a song has been played or how popular it is. For him, it’s all about the feel. If the music grooves and has that special oomph that can’t be explained, that’s all that matters. Whether he’s diving into the depths of our playlists or sharing his latest funky finds, Roderik embodies the spirit of musical exploration that we cherish. Always in it for the music, not the noise.
Jeroen Van genuchten
Jeroen started playing funk on his alto sax 40 years ago, inspired by Maceo Parker and Candy Dulfer. With The Jig he recorded in NYC and did five tours in Brazil. Nowadays he plays sax in T&A Connection and the Soul Survivors, bands that have their home base in the Rock Supplies Studios in Amsterdam. Next to that, he owns Funk & Soul Records store, B-Crack Record label and Blazer Bookings. Always willing to help talented musicians that share his dedication to pure, uncut funk, soul, blues and jazz.
